Who We Are

The Thessaloniki Youth Orchestra (T.Y.O.) is a newly established cultural institution with an international outlook and a strong social mission. Based in Greece, T.Y.O. brings together talented young musicians from across the country to form a high-level symphonic ensemble dedicated to education, collaboration, and musical excellence.

Meet the Team

Artistic Director

Symeon IoannidisConductor & Cultural Manager
Founder and artistic director of T.Y.O., Symeon Ioannidis studied Orchestral Conducting and Cultural Management in Germany. With extensive international experience, he leads the orchestra’s artistic direction and development.

Performances & Events

T.Y.O. regularly performs at major venues and events, including:

  • Thessaloniki Concert Hall
  • Vafopouleio Cultural Center
  • Ceremony Hall, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
  • Nora Loukidou International Piano Competition

Education & Training

T.Y.O. offers:

  • Hands-on orchestral experience
  • Collaborations with distinguished soloists and conductors
  • Participation in masterclasses

Note: Participation may qualify as an official internship or field practice for music students.

International Collaborations

T.Y.O. is actively developing partnerships with:

  • Youth orchestras in Germany, Italy, and Austria
  • International festivals and competitions
  • Renowned guest professors and musicians

Social Impact

T.Y.O. supports charitable causes such as the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer “Storgi”, reinforcing the connection between music and social responsibility.

Official Partner

The Friends of the Thessaloniki Youth Orchestra Association is the official institutional partner of T.Y.O. It manages legal and financial matters in cooperation with all supporting organizations and institutions.
